WHAT WE ARE DOING
Project: The Use of Open Government Data by the Public Sector
This research is in the area of open data. More specifically, we investigate the use of Open Government Data (OGD) by the public sector as we still have only limited understanding of how and why these data are used.
We aim to gain new knowledge and insights into how OGD is used. Thus, we examine what agencies use Open Government Data, what data is used for, what categories of data are used, and what institutions provide the data. We also look into OGD barriers, benefits, drivers, and enablers to understand why OGD is used.
OBJECTIVE
Investigate how and why the public sector uses open Government Data (OGD).
EXECUTION
This project is executed under the Doctoral Program in Information Systems and Technology at the University of Minho, Portugal
WHAT WE NEED
To gain a better understanding of why and how Open Government Data is used by the public sector, I invite experts (public officers, decision and policymakers, which work with OGD) to participate in a survey/questionnaire about why and how OGD is used by their institutions.

WHO CAN HELP
Open Government Data (OGD) Experts
WHY EXPERTS ARE IMPORTANT
WHO ARE THE EXPERTS?
They are the main source of information for a survey. Their experience and knowledge provide information and insights into why and how OGD is used by the public sector. Their participation is fundamental for the consistency and validation of the study.
Experts are IT professionals working with open data in the public sector, open data decision and policymakers, professionals and researchers in open government, open data, and Open Government Data (OGD), that work with the public sector.
We identified our experts through contact with ministries, agencies, and departments that reported using Open Government Data (OGD) on their websites or institutional reports. They were also nominated by the Conselho Nacional de Secretários de Estado da Administração (CONSAD and the Associação Brasileira das Entidades Estaduais de TIC (ABEP-TIC). Researchers also relied on their professional network to identify experts.
